The existing School of Dentistry contained two old passenger elevators, operating as a duplex
(two car group) and a newer single passenger elevator operating separately. There was also an
old service elevator near the rear of the building.
We provided a report based on a complete and thorough survey of the existing equipment including
the age and life expectancy of various components, present condition, replacement parts and
repair potential, and suitability for modernization. After review, and approval from the
University of Maryland, we presented a detailed repair and modernization specification and an
itemized project budget to be used by the University in soliciting bids from elevator contractors.
